Nestled in the heart of Scottsdale, The Rustically Modern Project is a personal residence designed to transport you to a refined, modern Italian villa—rooted in organic elegance and tailored for effortless entertaining.

Our full-service design included both the interior and exterior of this one-of-a-kind home, where every architectural feature and finish was intentionally curated to reflect timeless materials, artisanal craftsmanship, and modern functionality.

We worked hand-in-hand with a quarry in Italy to import truly rare marble slabs for the kitchen—naturally oil- and water-proof and found in only a handful of homes in the United States. The marble’s warm veining set the tone for a space layered with contrast, including custom metalwork on the range hood and entry doors, designed by a local Arizona artisan.

Natural limestone clads the walls inside and out, seamlessly blending the home's structure with its desert surroundings. The primary suite features a real terrazzo stone soaking tub, flanked by custom reeded white oak cabinetry and a disappearing sliding door that opens to a private courtyard and one of two handcrafted fountains—creating a true indoor-outdoor sanctuary.

Every cabinet, beam, and millwork detail throughout the home was custom crafted locally, giving each space a grounded warmth and sense of authenticity. In the powder room & office, we embraced bold design with a fully color-drenched Roman Clay & Lime Wash finish. In the powder room, a sculptural marble sink fabricated by a local stone artist, and a custom wall art installation that acts as both focal point and functional decor.

Beyond the architecture and finishes, we also furnished & decorated the entire home—layering quality, luxury, and intentional savings. Our clients' investment goals were thoughtfully mapped out through a strategic blend of high-end staples (hello, Restoration Hardware) and more budget-friendly pieces (yes, even a few Wayfair surprises!)—all hand selected, sourced and styled to create a cohesive, elevated design story from room to room.

 

The result is a richly layered, livable luxury home that invites you to gather, unwind, and be inspired by every detail.
